Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!

It’s the first Monday in September. Labor Day is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers, which constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.

Labor Day has come to be celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. In high society, Labor Day is (or was) considered the last day of the year when it is fashionable to wear white. Pfft…I’ll wear white if I want to. I’m not, “high society.” I’m partially redneck, damnit.

Labor Day also marks the beginning of the NFL season. Go Dallas Cowboys!

Note to Tony Romo: I still think you should have been traded, but stupid ass Jerry Jones won’t admit that he was wrong about you, so you received a 6-year contract for $108 million. YOU BETTER PLAY LIKE IT, MUDDER PUCKER!!

My opinion is that pro players make too much money. That’s what is wrong with this country. Our teachers should make that much!

Phew, that escalated quickly. Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day!

Hahaha, I loved the way how that spiralled into a whole different ballgame. :-) (Yes, pun intended) And I agree. Pro-players, in any kind of mass hysteria sport make way too much for their effort. No matter the fact that they can only play for a very short while during their life. Teachers and Libraries and other worthwhile things like those should get that kind of funding. You would be surprised how suddenly the economy blooms and the next generation thrives into prosperity. Anyway, that’s beside the point. Loved your post and I’ll wear white too, on any occasion, whenever I dangwell like! :-)

Yes, that plus medical insurance. If I went out and beat my head against a wall, and turned the inside of my body into tapioca pudding, I don’t think any medical institute in the world would take me–outside an insane asylum. Insurance wouldn’t cover it–“you did that to yourself”. And this is different from sports figures…how???

Labor Day always depresses me because it means the end of summer and the approach of another long cold winter!

I have no regard at all for football, so it’s obscene that players make that kind of dough. On the other hand, they do have a way of burning their way through it like it’s nobody’s business…
