What I Think of Social Media

Here’s what I think of social media:
There are some days that I just don’t care:
When I post something on my Facebook fan page and never, ever once get a reaction:
And then I think:
People always say that if you follow them on Twitter, they will follow you back. Then, they think they’re being clever and after you follow them, they unfollow you:
I mean what I say: unfollow me, and I’ll unfollow you. That shit in yo bag o’tricks, don’t work on me suckas! By the way, you can follow me @GKAdams and I will follow you back, until you stop following me. Then, guess what? Yeah.
When I realize that I need to put more effort into my Google+ Account and try to gain new followers and friends:
When I have worked so hard on trying to attract a sizable audience for my blog and every single day I see that I’m no closer than I was before:
And then I should just:

How I look when I ask people to subscribe:
When I hear that Pinterest should be just as important as the rest of social media and I realize I haven’t done shit on there:

Awesome addition to this week’s FTSF and you know how much I love these posts to begin with. Have tweeted this to share, because it is too good not to!! Thanks Gina :)

      Thanks, Janine!

  • asbertoluzzi

This is great. Very clever. I am wondering how you have time to find all this great stuff! (Carolina HeartStrings)

    • GKAdams

It’s not easy. Believe it or not, these are the toughest posts to do.

  • wirequeen

Loved this. Great start on a Friday morn. G+’d

Oh those were so great — love the cat one and the Grey’s Anatomy one – I remember that scene and it so does apply to social media…most days I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing.

    • GKAdams

HA! I’ve never seen one episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Sad, but true. I just thought that scene fit perfectly for what I wanted to convey!

  • Cyndi

The cat one is HILARIOUS! And the “desperate” one and the “invisible” one and hell, they’re all awesome! 😀 You hit the nail on the head: these are exactly how I feel, LOL.

    • GKAdams

      Thanks Cyndi!

I dunno what I’m doing on any social media platform. It’s not like you can stick a seed in the ground, sprinkle it with water and watch it grow. Oh no! It’s harder than that! You gotta stroke egos, promise a life long commitment to follow back until they realize there are younger, prettier blogs to follow. Then they drop your ass. It sounds more like a bad marriage to me.

    • GKAdams

So, that’s what I’ve been doing wrong…planting social media like a garden. No wonder nothing was growing. You’re right though, it is like a bad marriage.

  • Stephanie Sprenger

Oh my God, that was so hilariously entertaining! You always have the perfect video clips. I laughed so hard when you said “that shit in yo’ bag o tricks don’t work on me suckas!” Thanks for linking up with such a funny, relatable post. :)

    • GKAdams

LOL! That’s what those twittererererers think!

  • Marlene Baird

This was absolutely entertaining. Thanks for starting off my weekend with a bang. Love it.

    • GKAdams

You’re welcome and thank you for stopping by!

  • William Kendall

Very, very funny! I’m technically on Pinterest… but haven’t been there in months.
And that cat will have its revenge on the lowly staff daring to dress it as a bee.

    • GKAdams

I need to be better about Pinterest. It’s on my to-do list.

  • Phil Holtberg

I am in the same boat as you with this! Too funny. Hey, you got my follow on Twitter and on Pinterest.

Love all the Gifs here – perfect!

    • GKAdams

Thanks for the follows. I have followed you back!

  • http://twitter.com/TaoOfPoop Rachel Demas

Oh, the videos are priceless and add a lovely layer of hell to the social media scene. I think you’d have to be living under a rock not to relate to this post! Awesome!

    • GKAdams

I thought they fit my experience with social media. As it turns out, it fits everyone else too. So glad you stopped by. Hope to see you again.

  • OnTheVerge May

sounds about right.. and now I have to go watch The IT Crowd :)

    • GKAdams

      Okay! Thanks for stopping by.

  • http://twitter.com/FindingNinee Kristi Campbell

Great way to show this! And yeah, none of us have a clue how to handle any of it. And what is UP with people following us on Twitter and then doing an unfollow? Like we’re gonna be dumb enough to NOT unfollow back. Grrr.

    • http://www.funnylifestories.com GK Adams

LOL! People like to think they can outsmart you!

    • GKAdams

LOL! It gives me great pleasure to unfollow them.

  • Deb

Great post. I’ve never even gone on Pinterest. I guess I’ll have to check it out. Sometimes I just want to chuck it all and go live in the woods!

    • http://www.funnylifestories.com GK Adams

      I know what you mean!

    • GKAdams

Sign up and look me up!

  • Cheryl Nicholl

FunnyFunnyFunny- your…Funny. Ok, I’ve said it. As for social Media, Holy Mary Mother of Jesus it’s complicated! When I first started my fabulously witty blog I actually HIRED a gal to assist me. She did for one week and then got her own book deal, so naturally I fell off her radar (but she still cashed the check). So sad- like the amount of time we bloggers should put into social media platforms but actually have to sleep so something has to go by the wayside and it’s usually… (can you feel the hamster wheel?)
    PS- I followed!!!

    • http://www.funnylifestories.com GK Adams

Thank you Cheryl! I really appreciate that. You should send me a message on FB giving me your link so I can check out your blog (and follow) too!

    • GKAdams

Thanks for following. Followed you back. I’ve been doing lots of research on the whole social media thing and SEO. It hasn’t been fun.

  • http://www.SkyMommy.com/ SkyWaitress

That cat GIF that you used for your feelings on Pinterest made me laugh out loud (and I feel the same way).

Also, the follow back and then unfollow game? So freaking annoying. I can generally tell now who will do it (they follow a tiny fraction of their follower) and I sometimes wonder why I bother following back at all. Thank goodness for friendorfollow, am I right?

    • http://www.funnylifestories.com GK Adams

Yep! I use JustUnfollow to see who, what, where, when, and how. Well. not “how,” because I don’t care. Thanks for stopping by!

    • GKAdams

JustUnfollow is great for finding those idjits.

  • Norma Beishir

I think you have to just have fun with it and not let it get to you. Focus on your writing above all else.

    • GKAdams

I agree, but it’s fun to bitch about.
