When I actually finished the first draft of my novel:
But then realized that it’s time to edit:

When I know I have to edit, and after giving myself a pep talk, I open the first chapter and I know I should be doing this:

When I have a great new plot idea for my next book:
But then I realize that I actually have to finish editing the first one:

I know that once I finally get my first novel completely edited and ready to be presentable, I’ll be like:

And then I’ll start my search for an agent, starting out smug, as if I’ve done the best writing in the world:
After more than a few rejections:
